The metal core that covers the upper chain tensioner is called BISULPHIDE; a dry, self-lubricating material that is highly resistant to wear caused by the chain. When this occurs by rubbing, the material will not detach in tiny flakes from the support as all vitrified and non-vitrified nylons do, but will tend to create a barrier on the sides of the chain itself; therefore we will not have foreign bodies scattered in the engine oil.
The grooves molded on the slides, called oil levelers, keep the oil in those grooves always in the same quantity both for loading and unloading.
